Barcelona’s Jordi Alba Has Heated Clash With Vinicius Jr [WATCH]

Barcelona defender Jordi Alba clashed with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior in the first half of El Clasico on Sunday after the Brazil international went down in the penalty area following a clash with Oscar Mingueza.

The 21-year-old appealed for a spot-kick after running into Mingueza and going to ground, but referee Sanchez Martinez was quick to wave the Real Madrid appeals away.

Barcelona players couldn’t hide their frustration at Vinicius at the incident with Alba captured indulging in a heated debate with the Real Madrid youngster, as shown by ESPN.

Alba had been a doubt ahead of the game with an ankle injury sustained against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League. However, the defender was passed fit for the match and started in his usual left-back position.

Barca Guilty of Missing Chances

There were few surprises in the Barcelona XI for El Clasico. Sergino Dest once again started in a more advanced position in attack alongside Memphis Depay and fit-again Ansu Fati.

Sergio Busquets captained the side and lined up in midfield alongside Frenkie de Jong and teenager Gavi who wrote his name into the history books after being named in the starting XI, as shown by Opta.

Koeman named Gerard Pique and Eric Garcia as his center-back pairing with Alba at left-back and Oscar Mingueza on the opposite flank in front of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Barca started the game well but missed a glorious chance to open the scoring from close range. Dest only had goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to beat but somehow managed to send his shot over the crossbar, as shown by ESPN.

David Alba opened the scoring for the visitors on 32 minutes but Barca should have equalized when Pique had a sight of goal from a corner. The defender managed to direct a header goalwards but could not quite find the target. as shown by ESPN.
